Last night was the season 5 finale of NBC’s The Voice, and as you probably already know if you A) follow the show, or B) have been on the Twitter today, the beautiful (inside and out) and talented Jamaica-born Tessanne Chin was crowned the winner. While Tessanne, and all of the other previous winners (Cassaddee Pope, Danielle Bradberry, Jermaine Paul, and Javier Colon) are all amazingly talented and successful in their own ways, they’re not the only contestants from The Voice who stick out as supremely talented artists.
One of the best things about The Voice, as compared to other talent competitions, is the sense of community. Often times, contestants from seasons past find their way back to The Voice stage to share their new music. But even with this amazing sense of community and pride, I feel like there are a lot of previous contestants who are underrated and overlooked, and while they didn’t win, they certainly deserve our attention. As a long-time fan of the show, I wanted to take the time out to put the spotlight back on some of my personal favorites from seasons 1 through 5.
