College is the only time where it’s acceptable to be ridiculously hungover on a regular basis. Unfortunately, responsibilities do not dissolve when you decide to take the night off and go out. Most of your collegiate life is spent balancing class, homework, clubs, and other activities all while trying to maintain a social life. Which means sometimes you’re going to wake up and feel like you’ve gotten run over by a truck, but you’ve got to pull yourself together anyways.

So when you feel like absolute death but you still have to go to class/a meeting/work, here are five ways to help with and hide a hangover:

1. Chug chug chug…water

Even if you think that anything that goes down your throat is going to come right back up again, you need to drink water. Drinking alcohol dehydrates your body and water is the cure to everything from the headache to the nausea to the bloodshot eyes. Keep a water bottle by your bed and drink at least half before leaving your room.

2. Take a cold shower

First of all, you probably don’t smell too great to begin with. But taking a cold shower will also wake you up and tighten your pores, which will help you appear much more awake than you actually are.

3. Drink something with caffeine

Caffeine does the beautiful task of waking you up, but it also restricts the blood vessels in your face. This means those bleary eyes and dark circles under them (the tell-tale sign of being hungover) will disappear.

4. Eat some peppermints

Even if you can’t eat anything else, try to chew a peppermint or two. They give you a little bit of sustenance and are also a cheap cure for upset stomachs. They will help you control your nausea, at least for a little while.

5. And finally, use eye drops

Bloodshot eyes are a dead giveaway of a late night, so keep some handy and use a few in each eye. They’ll clear up the redness almost immediately.
