In 2011, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was released in theatres, marking the end of the Harry Potter saga.

Or so we thought.

J.K. Rowling recently announced that she will be penning the screenplay to a new movie that takes place in the Harry Potter universe. The movie will be based off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a Harry Potter companion novel that was published in 2001. The book is also a textbook used by Hogwarts students in the series. The film will focus on the life of Beasts author Newt Scamander and will take place twenty years before Harry Potter even begins. Oh and did I mention it is going to take place in New York? Yep. America. The United States. The Big Apple. The U.S. of A.

Give me a second to catch my breath.

So now that the news has had a chance to sink in for a few days I can finally process my reaction to the idea that the world of Harry Potter is coming back. I’m still not over it. I don’t think I’ll ever be over it.

So here is my journey through this news:

It was really hard for me when I thought Harry Potter was over for good back in 2011

But then, I started to recover

Kind of.

And then, two years later I’m hit with the news that it may not be over

And I immediately reject it. I’ve been hurt before.

But as I read more and more articles about it, and saw that J.K. Rowling herself would be writing the screenplay, it really started to sink in

Like…really sink in

And suddenly I was beyond excited

Because if Jo herself is in charge, well, I just gotta trust her.

Although I totally would have been okay with a Marauders movie instead…

Okay, I’m just going to stop talking now.

Are you excited for Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them?
