If you haven’t heard, Ahmed Mohamed is a 14-year-old from Texas who was arrested at MacArthur High School for bringing in a homemade clock, which his teachers thought was a bomb….

Obviously, no one there thought Mohamed could just be, well, a genius. While that incident is sure to leave a mark, at least there was some positivity. During an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, Mohamed discussed what happened.. then, there was a surprise.

Astrophysicist Chanda Prescod-Weinstein from MIT (AKA Mohamed’s dream school) told the young man that he is exactly the kind of person they want at the prestigious college. “I just want to say, you are my ideal student,” she said. “A creative, independent thinker like you is the kind of person who should be becoming a physicist. As a theoretical physicist, I would love it if you took an interest in the mathematical side, although you’re clearly very adept with your hands and at building things.”

She then invited him to take a visit to the school.

And she’s not the only one impressed with his skills. President Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton, Mark Zuckerberg from Facebook and the folks at Twitter have all praised him, and some invited him to visit/intern for them. Not bad for a 14-year-old, huh?

Of course it’s not all a happy ending. Clearly Mohamed was singled out because he is Islamic… Watch the interview below to learn about his whole experience.
