I can’t believe it’s the first week of classes already! (Or it will be really soon for the rest of you.) As it’s time to head back to the college grind, I think college bloggers have come back to life. Check out what they have to say on this week’s College Mixer: a weekly roundup of awesome posts!
College Info Geek Wants to Make You More Hirable
Tom over at College Info Geek has a major goal he wants to achieve with his blog: make his readers more attractive candidates for jobs, whether it is right this second or once they graduate in the future. I think he does just that in his incredibly-long-but-worth-the-read article, “5 Things You Can Do Today to Make Yourself 2 Billion Percent More Hirable.” Since it is definitely that time of the semester when college students are scrambling for that internship or part time job, you owe it to yourself to make yourself standout to potential employers.
Oh, and considering I’ve been spending half my life reading resumes and cover letters and throwing them aside because the candidates didn’t think to edit their own work, I highly recommend you take a look at this article. Please do. If only to help me and my poor eyes…
Honest College Says to Check Yo’self before You Wreck Yo’self
Stress is an inevitable part of college. Considering I was a ball of stress my senior year of college, I can tell you that it isn’t the only option. You can take yourself out of this perpetual cycle, even if it means you have to say no to something. (I know; it’s hard.) This handy post over at Honest College shows college students how to identify if they are overstressed and how to reduce that stress.
For the sake of your mental health and physical health, read this article. (I’m speaking from experience; I destroyed my teeth due to stress grinding and had to get a root canal. DON’T BE ME.)
HackCollege Shows You How to Save $$$ While Showering
It seems random, doesn’t it? But it’s coming from a good place. I have a roommate who showers a minimum of 25 minutes on a good day. That is a lot of water. If we had to pay for our water bill, that would really suck for our wallets and I’d hate her. Luckily for her sake and my sanity, our landlord covers water bills.
Anyways, for people living off campus who may have to cover water bills, it’s just good sense to change up your habits and save money where you can. HackCollege, the granddaddy of college sites, does just that with this short-but-sweet tutorial to minimizing wasted water. And think about it, it’s better for the environment too!
Get Rich in College Talks Credit Cards
Credit cards are confusing. I have friends who have already graduated from college and haven’t applied for their first credit card yet! But if you are a money-savvy student, you will want to start building credit as soon as you are old enough for them. But where to start?
That’s it for this week’s College Mixer. But before you leave, you should check out all the posts we’ve been publishing right here on CampusRiot!
