College kids are the kings of slang. Walk onto a college campus and you better have a translation app ready because students speak pretty much a foreign language. Since words and definitions are what does best, they decided to ask college students to submit slang terms that they use, and the definitions. After getting thousands of submissions they compiled a handy cheat sheet to help you navigate the world of cakewalks and marathoning.

While some of these words may not be exactly the terms that are used on your campus, we can bet that at least a few of them are recognizable. Most of them have to do with academia, however a few of the more entertaining definitions came from the “wild card” section, which was more open ended. This is where things get a little more colloquial. Know what we realized? That even in 2014, no one can come up with one universal definition for “hooking up.” Can we get on that, college kids? We are counting on you. You are our future.

We picked a few of our favorites from the list and posted them below, but for the full list make sure to check out Alright you crazy kids, keep making up those crazy slang terms.
