 About us!

The University of New Haven, more commonly called “UNH”, is a private university of over 6,000 students located in West Haven, Connecticut.  Not too big, not too small, it’s just right for us.

If you’re in the process of applying to schools, UNH could be the school for you!  Interested in becoming a police officer, forensic scientist, or maybe one-day work for the FBI? We are best known for our criminal justice department. Classes for these students are held in the Henry C. Lee building, named after and headed by the very profound forensic scientist.

This is certainly not to say that other majors are not worthwhile. The university not only strives for diversity, but also passionate and highly trained faculty in all of the different departments our university offers.

What to do!

While education is of grave importance, we understand health is too. Conveniently located on campus is a 2-floor recreation center. The first floor has basketball and racquetball sports courts and a weight lifting room. The second floor has studio rooms for classes such as zumba and spinning as well as a vast number of equipment including stairmasters, treadmills, and ellipticals. Additionally, the second floor has an overlooking indoor running track as you can see in the picture above of students playing basketball.

UNH’s location is ideal in that it is just a 10-15 minute ride to the beach by car or public transportation. For those few days of the year of warm weather,  it’s a great spot to have some fun in the sun! However, you also get the unpredictable northeast weather varying from heavy snow to torrential downpours. It’s the best of all four seasons in one area.

The University of New Haven is also a very close neighbor to New Haven, CT, which is where Yale resides. For fans of the television series, Gilmore Girls, this is where Rory Gilmore attended college.

Last but not least, the New Haven area is known for it’s roaring nightlife of clubs, bars, and restaurants. Perfect for students to “let loose” a little bit and have a good time, but responsibly and legally, of course.

So have I peaked your interest in the University of New Haven?
