Making time for yourself during the school year can be tricky; you get caught up in homework, jobs, extra circulars and classes. Eventually, though, the craziness will catch up to you and you will need a break. Check out these ideas for giving yourself a break this semester and make time for yourself.
Read a book:
Carry a book in your bag with you or keep it by your bed. Reading will keep your mind rested and alert at the same time. There are so many good books out there! You can read before bed, while you’re waiting for class to start, or while you’ve got 30-minutes on your hands.
Watch a TV show:
Go on Netflix and watch a 20-minute episode. This will distract you from your busy world and provide entertainment. Friends is a really great show for this—once a day, sit down at your computer and watch a random episode. You won’t regret it!
Go on a walk:
Take 30-minutes and walk around campus. Try to look for things you’ve never noticed before. Walking is great exercise and great for when you are overwhelmed with school.
Cook a homemade meal:
Cooking is great and super relaxing. Go on Pinterest and find a recipe you’ve never made before. Learning to cook in college is great practice, and will keep you healthy. You can even invite some friends over to cook with you so you can all enjoy together.
Take up a hobby:
Do something you never thought you would do; try knitting, drawing, jogging, even singing! By taking up a hobby, you’re giving yourself an outlet. When you focus on something else, your brain can relax and your body will thank you.
It’s important to make time for yourself every week, if not everyday. If you don’t, stress will come quicker. By making plenty of time for yourself, you will be more relaxed and ready to take on any challenges coming your way.
