Alex Turner, the frontman of Sheffield indie four-piece Arctic Monkeys turns 28 today, and with five amazing albums under his belt before the age of thirty, I kind of wonder what in the world I am doing with my time. Their latest debut, AM, has sent the world into a complete frenzy with its darker sound and sexy late night melodies. It was even my #2 album of 2013.
This Sheffield born front man has a lot of songs under his belt. Almost an overwhelming amount for someone who is still in their twenties. However this just makes it a whole lot easier to dedicate an entire Music Monday to his work. I might be fangirling a little bit right now, but can you really blame me? In celebration of Turner’s birthday, I decided to pick one track from every Arctic Monkeys album, my favorite B-side, favorite cover, and a track from the other projects he has been apart of. This is a true Alex Turner starter pack. Pop open a can of Dandelion and Burdock, and take a look back on a mere fraction of the work produced by one of the best lyricists of our generation: Alex Turner. Tha knows.
