It’s wedding season! As many of you Pinterest trolls are aware, the gorgeous outdoor (and outdoor-ish) weddings are in full swing and the rest of us are busy picking outfits, travelling, and celebrating along with the bride and groom. While weddings are full of merriment and love, there are some unfortunate (and preventable!) situations that make weddings painful. So here are my two cents on avoiding those situations all together.
1. Bring water and a light sweater.
Okay, these seem to work against each other but hear me out. First of all, it gets hot in the summertime! Stay hydrated, especially for those outdoor weddings, or you’ll be focused on how uncomfortable you are the entire time. Why bring a sweater? Well, rain and indoor weddings can force you inside where the A/C is on full blast. Goosebumps don’t look good on anybody.
2. Be mindful of your shoes.
I don’t just mean heels. Gentlemen, I have put on a pair of dress shoes before and those things are not comfortable. Keep in mind that you could be standing, maybe even walking, for a couple of hours that day and could be asked to rise and sit at a moment’s notice. Besides, who wants to dance when their feet hurt?
3. Charge your camera!
That means your phone if that’s what you use to take photos! First of all, weddings last a long time and there are plenty of gorgeous photo ops. Don’t miss out on any of them just because your camera/phone dies. Not to mention that my phone dying would send me into a fit comparable to that of a five year-old who just had their favorite toy taken away…
4. Eat whenever possible.
Because you never know when you’ll get food next. 7 pm dinner can quickly turn into 9 pm dinner and that means that you’ll be grumpy and hungry for, you know, two full hours when you could be enjoying the scenery.
How many weddings are you heading to this summer?
