If there’s one thing that any exam period teaches me, it’s that I have this incredible ability to waste time. You know why? Everybody is stressed out of their minds and studying like crazy, but we all realize eventually that there is no way that we can study for 10+ hours every single day. (My friend says that your ability to retain information dies down after 5 hours.) So you know what we’re left with? 5+ hours per day to do abso-freaking-lutely nothing. So you know what? You know what?! I’ve become great at wasting time.
This is old. We all know YouTube, we all love it, and we all follow our favorite YouTubers / entertainers. I’m mesmerized by how I can go from a horizontal position on my bed to a horizontal position on my couch and watch YouTube streams. Heck, I don’t even need to move my hand to change the video every five minutes or so. Playlists are great.
No, I don’t have a TV in my apartment. That’s so overrated. You can’t turn on the TV and watch episode after episode of The Big Bang Theory. TV schedules don’t work like that. You know what does, though? Streaming TV shows online. Hear me when I say that I have figured out the perfect angle at which to place my laptop on my living room table such that my laptop charger can reach the outlet and ensure that the glare off of my computer screen is minimized.
You know what I do when I get bored? Eat. You know what I do when I get bored of eating my own terrible dorm-style cooking? Eat out. There is something to say for wandering around your college city and finding new places to eat (or hike or discover). Just, you know, bring a friend, and don’t go into dark alleyways.
Whether you’re waiting to write your last exam or you anticipate a boring summer ahead of you, there are so many great ways to waste time. Get on that.
