If you’ve been reading SC for a while, then you already know that Kid President is one of our favorite YouTube personalities ever. He is an inspiring little 11-year-old with high hopes and a big heart. He just wants the world to be a better place, by teaching everyone how to live, love, laugh, and especially, eat corn dogs. His positive attitude comes from his life with a debilitating bone disease called Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). Despite his brittle bones and constant injuries, Kid President just wants everyone to dance and be happy. What more could you want in a role model?
In a recent video, Kid President reads his letter to a person on their first day here. The life lessons he shares are endearingly funny (as always, it is Kid President, of course) and simple, but accurate. He shares with you that some days are good, and some days aren’t — some days you get ice cream, and some days your kite gets stuck in a tree. And of course, the world is a great place — it does have corn dogs, after all. Most importantly, there are always plenty of reasons to dance, nobody is incapable of being nice, and being a person is hard sometimes. As he puts it, “You should give people high fives just for getting out of bed.” (If you’re wondering what a high-five is, it’s “like hitting someone who is your friend.”) His best piece of advice? “Just treat everybody like it’s their birthday.” We totally agree, Kid President. You’ll always have our vote.
