The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has been out in theaters for a few weeks now and it’s still ruling the box office, even beating The Hunger Games: Catching Fire shortly after its release. While The Hobbit is already a great film in a wonderful series inspired by the JRR Tolkien classics, there’s always room for improvement. And what better way to improve on an already amazing movie than to add another amazing movie to it?
We all know that everything magically becomes better when you add Mean Girls quotes to it, right? Right. YouTuber Only Leigh, who best describes herself as an “animator, illustrator, cookie lover,” and a “pop culture obssesor,” and is known for her cartoon mashups like “Thorested Development” (yes, it’s exactly what you think it is) decided that The Hobbit could use a little high school drama. And thus, “Mean Elves” was born.
In this parody, Bilbo Baggins is (obviously) Cady Heron, Thorin is Janis Ian, and Gandalf is Damian. Naturally, the elves are “The Plastics” and most fabulously, Legolas is Gretchen Weiners (that’s why his ears are so big… they’re full of secrets!) I don’t want to spoil the rest of the hilarity, so you’ll just have to check out the video below and enjoy.
P.S., it’s JRR Tolkien’s birthday today, so this is the perfect way to celebrate!
