So the news broke out over the weekend that JK Rowling penned another novel but we all missed it. No, not The Casual Vacancy, another novel all together. And we all missed it because she released it under a male pseudonym. The Cuckoo’s Calling, a crime novel that was released earlier this year was published under the name Robert Galbraith. She confessed over the weekend and since then sales of the book have sky rocketed, and it has been met with positive reviews.
So I guess this is the answer to Hank Green’s question in the new vlogbrother’s video. Hank sings a song called “Oh, JK Rowling” and asks “what are you doing with your time?” while begging her to pen something, anything, that has to do with Harry Potter. Hank suggests that she crack open a laptop because she probably has some more “jots” left in her brain. Which apparently was true since she released another book. It just wasn’t a Harry Potter novel, and it wasn’t under her name. But she was still writing. Which is a good sign, isn’t it?
Every year around this time (mid-July) Hank releases a Harry Potter related song. The tradition started back in 2007 around the release of Deathly Hallows. His song “Accio Deathly Hallows” was a huge hit, so the HP themed mid-summer ditty became a tradition. And we even get a little glimpse of John Green at the end of this video, who has been on paternity leave lately and hasn’t been doing much by way of internet.
