Today marks 12 years since 9/11, and because of that, I decided to take a step back from the usual funny Way Back Wednesday video to bring you something that is much more sentimental and commemorative of those who lost and risked their lives on that fateful day in 2001.
I’ll never forget what it was like that day – I was in my 6th grade health class when another teacher ran into our classroom, holding back tears, announcing that a plane had just crashed into the World Trade Center. We quickly turned on the news and spent the rest of the school day glued to the televisions in every classroom, trying to understand what was happening and why. Classmates lost family members and friends, and while I was fortunate that none of my loved ones were in New York that day, thousands of other people were not.
We all remember where we were when the attack occurred, what we were doing, who we were with, and what it meant for us, and not just on the anniversary of 9/11. Today, let’s all take a few moments to remember those who we’ve lost, those who were brave enough to risk their lives trying to save people, and how we’ve grown since it happened, with this memorial video from 2011 that marked the 10 year anniversary of such a tragic day in our history.
