We can’t stress this enough: the world just might end tomorrow! It’s not a coincidence that 2012 is the year of the Mayan Apocalypse and the year of #YOLO. Seriously, they world is trying to tell us something. You know what this means, right? It’s time to party! Because really, there is no better excuse to live it up. Don’t fight it.
In the spirit of Doomsday, here is your guide to partying apocalypse-style!
Parties to Attend:
If you’re a New Yorker (or happen to be visiting!) you’re in luck! There are plenty of apocalypse parties happening over the weekend so that you can have fun before the world ends (or celebrate when it doesn’t!) Check them out:
“End of the World Party: Beats and Booze” at Hudson Terrace
“End of the World” at The Bowery Hotel
“The Apocalypse Party” at Cameo Gallery
“End of the World” at Posh Bar & Lounge
“The Last Rock Show on Earth” at Knitting Factory
“Apocalypse 12.21.12” at Restaurant Maya
Host Your Own:
It may be too late to plan a big end-of-the-world bash but it’s not too late to plan a little party with your friends! All you need to do is get plenty of food and drink (you can find drink recipes for apocalypse-inspired cocktails here and here) and some Doomsday-themed party games (go here for inspiration!) and you’re good to go!
Our favorites on the list: “Pandemic Pictionary” and “End of Days Charades”
Songs to add to your party playlist: “It’s the End of the World as We Know It” by REM, “Till the World Ends” by Britney Spears, and “Apocalypse Please” by Muse (check out our video of the day for more song ideas!)
Note: Before you get too crazy, please drink and party responsibly! (We already know the world isn’t actually ending thanks to NASA, so don’t make this weekend your own personal apocalypse)
